Public Beach Access - Boat Ramp - Parks

The Western Regional Beach Access is located off Islander Drive and beside Queen's Court Condominiums. The facility has handicap access to the beach and deck, parking for 168 cars, a covered picnic area with soda machines, two volleyball courts for some family fun, a bike rack, restrooms and showers. It's also home to the Emerald Isle's Summer Concert Series, EmeraldFest. There are also oyster shell recycling bins, so drop'em off here. Take a right to access the parking right before you reach the Islander parking lot.
Lifeguards are on duty from 10am to 5pm late May through early September at the Western Ocean Regional Access. There is a $10 fee charged for parking at the Western Ocean Regional Access on Saturday, Sundays, and holidays from April through September between the hours of 7am - 4pm.  Reservations are not accepted. First come first serve.

Eastern Regional Access in Emerald Isle NC
The Eastern Regional Beach Access is located at 2701 Emerald Drive between Pier Point and Ocean Reef condominiums, this facility has parking for 167 cars, a picnic pavilion area, a nice restroom and shower area for when you come off the beach and need to get cleaned up, and there are outdoor grills for your use. The Beach Access is handicapped accessible.

3rd Street Park is located at 301 Ocean Drive and accessible from First and Fifth Street. There is parking for 12 cars and observation deck, picnic table and beach access.

Cedar Street Park offers parking for seven vehicles and access to Bogue Sound and the Intracoastal Waterway for kayaking, fishing, crabbing and a host of other activities, it is located off at 7800 Cedar Street at the end of Cedar Street on the sound side.

The Station Street Park access is located at 11001 Station Street near "The Point." Turn right when coming off the Emerald Isle bridge at the first stoplight onto Coast Guard Road and follow it almost to the end. If your coming from Emerald Drive take a left at the Valero gas station and Watson-Matthews Real Estate onto Coast Guard Road.
There is parking for 16 cars, picnic tables and a bike rack covered by sweeping Live Oak trees that provide for a great setting for lunch before you hit the beach with plenty of shade. And then it's a short quarter of a mile walk to the beach.
Park Street Park is located directly across from the Eastern Regional Ocean Access, there is no parking on that side of the road but you can park across the street and walk over to use the dock for fishing off of (make sure you have a fishing license) or to go clamming and crabbing.
There is also a kayak launch and a handicap ramp to access it, benches to sit on and read a good book or catch up with a friend in peaceful setting, we suggest leaving the iPhone at home and enjoy listening to the water lap on the shore or the seagulls cackling as they fly by.

Emerald Woods Park is a sound front park located along Coast Guard Road that consist of 41-acres and features walking trails, a floating dock, board walks that weave throughout and make for a nice getaway with the family if you want to take a break from the beach or enjoy running or just for a picnic overlooking Bogue Sound. The trails are moderate and include some inclines and declines. Bring your camera as you may see deer, osprey, egrets, woodpeckers and other shore birds.
There are nice facilities including a bathhouse, 4 grills, a nice walkway down to a floating dock to launch your kayak from and picnic tables to sit at and enjoy the view overlooking the water and the Emerald Isle bridge.It is also handicapped accessible.
Leashed pets allowed; must be on a six foot leash. Owners are subject to pooper scooper law. $50 fine for violators. The park is open year around from sunrise to sunset. Please contact Emerald Isle Parks & Recreation Department for more information.  252-354-6350. From the intersection of Highway 24 and 58 proceed across the B. Cameron Langston Bridge.  At the light at the base of the bridge turn right onto Coast Guard Road.  Travel on Coast Guard Road, turn right before reaching Deer Horn Dunes.  Approximately ¼ mile from the intersection of Highway 58 (Emerald Drive) and Coast Guard Road.

The Emerald Isle/NC Wildlife Resources Commission boat ramp is a beautiful facility for launching your boat or personal watercraft it is located on Bogue Sound at 6800 Emerald Drive near mile marker 18 on NC 58 (adjacent to Chapel By The Sea).  The facility includes 4 launching ramps and parking for 112 vehicle/trailer combinations, and a separate parking lot with 18 single vehicle spaces.  The new facility is managed by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, and is open 24/7/365.  There is no fee to launch a boat.
The facility opened on April 15th, 2011 and is the largest public boat launch facility on the North Carolina Coast.

Emerald Isle Bike path along highway 58
The Emerald Isle Bike Path extends approximately 11 miles from the Indian Beach town limits all the way to The Point at Bogue Inlet. The path winds through grassy areas along Coast Guard Road to Loon Drive, snakes through wooded areas from Loon Drive to the Welcome Center, meanders through the downtown district and passes the Municipal Complex at Black Skimmer Drive and ends at the eastern town limits.
The bike path provides an alternative means of transportation to key destinations in Town, as well as provides an additional recreational opportunity in Emerald Isle. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the "Path" and also to the Emerald Isle Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K for their generous donations over the past two years, from their success with the marathon.
Authorized Beach Access Ramps are located at the Ocean Drive "dog-leg" (near mile marker 15 on NC 58), at the end of Black Skimmer Drive (across from the Police Department), and at The Point (at the terminus of Inlet Drive at Bogue Inlet).  The Doe Drive ramp is closed to the general public.
Certain sections of the beach may be closed from time to time due to erosion concerns, in order to protect endangered and/or threatened sea turtle and bird nests, and/or to provide for general protection of public health, safety, and welfare.  Closed sections will be posted and roped, and beach drivers must avoid these areas entirely.
Beach driving is allowed from September 15 through April 30 and is allowed from 5am until 9pm daily from September 15 to November 1, and from March 8 to April 30. Daily driving hours are 5 am until 7 pm from November 2 to March 7. Driving is not allowed, however, between the Thursday before Easter weekend and the Monday that occurs 8 days after Easter Sunday. Permits must be obtained from Town Hall yearly.
No driving is allowed on the beach without an official Town of Emerald Isle beach driving permit. A beach driving permit may be purchased at the Town Administration Building at 7509 Emerald Drive during normal business hours, 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday. Blue Heron Park is located behind the police station at 7500 Hundred Emerald Drive, there is a playground for kids with swings, climbing features, sandboxes, lighted tennis courts to keep your game sharp night or day, a picnic pavilion for enjoying lunch ora quick snack, a basketball court, restrooms, bike rack for the cyclist and a grill.
Some times you want to take a break from the beach, especially if you got to much sun the day before, or maybe the grandparents want to spend some time with the grandchildren but don't want to make their way down to the beach and Blue Heron Park is a perfect getaway for them.
Enjoy a few hours at Blue Heron Park shooting some hoops or playing a game of tennis with friends or just to practice your game. Check in with the Parks and Recreation Department for details on using the courts to reserve your spot.
